10 Year Anniversary and what we’re doing to celebrate

No doubt COVID 2020 is a pretty unforgettable year. We've cancelled our 10 year anniversary concert and performances, along with taking our flagship choir program Adult Glee Club, into the online world. We've been limited with class numbers and life as we know it, is pretty restrictive in some areas. Despite what's happening, All Age Music is excited to venture into the online space and we'll be busy editing, cutting, recording and publishing our very first series of End of Year Online Performance Extravaganza - The 10 Year Anniversary edition. We'll be launching a weekly video series of all our students performing their final end of year pieces starting 11 November. Followed by a Special 10 year anniversary livestream performance on Friday 11 December. PLUS we've just designed an exclusive 10 year anniversary band t-shirt for students to order, as seen in the picture above! The cost of shirts are $25 (adults) and $20 (kids). To order simply fill in the online form and we'll contact you to arrange payment. This can be done by EFT or via your existing direct debit account.

COVID19 Update – Our Plan to Return with Face to Face Lessons

Most of our lessons in term (2) are being delivered online, but with the easing of restrictions, we can restart face to face lessons. In saying this, a number of teachers and parents/students may continue to fulfill all their term two (2) lessons online, however, we have mapped out a plan of what we can now allow with physical lessons. We are phasing lessons across three (3) stages to ensure we practice social distancing and continue to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus through community transmission. In keeping our studios as safe and COVID19 friendly as possible, the following measures will be put into place: All students and teachers will need to ensure they wash their hands before each lesson. We use communal instruments like the piano and drum kit, so we want to ensure we maintain a high level of hygiene No water bottles will be supplied in the waiting room area. Students must bring their own bottles of water if you need to drink (i.e vocal students) Drum students MUST bring their own drum sticks A reduced number of chairs at a social distance space of 1.5m apart will be arranged in the waiting areas of each studio...

Why learning music will help pass time during COVID-19 lock down

No doubt, the situation for most schools, universities and colleges is to switch their face to face lessons into the online environment. Music schools are no different, and with the recent lock down measures put in place, music tuition is one of the activities that can continue successfully for many kids and adults. With most people around the world in self-isolation or lock down mode, it's important to understand the power of music. Our sporting clubs, recreational activities and social communities have been removed from our weekly lives, meaning social distancing and mandatory self-isolation will only worsen our mental state. Learning a musical instrument or singing is funnily enough a therapeutic and stress relieving activity that is best done in self-isolation mode. Not only does it give a child or adult a sense of self-accomplishment and nourishment, it will ultimately contribute to the passing of time you spend in these months of social distancing and house-bound life. Let's look at what the professionals and famous artists are doing. They're going on Facebook LIVE and performing for fans and friends. They're probably all geared up to write a couple of new albums, a bucket load of songs which will go down...

What if we could educate you through Facebook

Most of us live in the world of Facebook and for the past 2 years, it's been a wonderful space for our music school to share photos, ideas, videos, news and events. Without it, I don't think we'd be able to share and invite our students and families to discover what we can truly offer and what we support and value. So if you're part of the world called Facebook, we encourage you to like us and check in with us every so often. We plan on doing many things via Facebook and would hate you to miss out. www.facebook.com/allagemusic

What type of piano exams are now offered by the AMEB

A long time ago when I first learnt piano, they only offered the classical so-called Pianoforte exams. It was all under the AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) in which you would prepare for exams and do them at the Conservatorium. These days, they've introduced the Piano for Leisure series which is great. They're up to Series 3 which means there's a great selection of pieces from the classical period, modern movie themes, modern pop songs, jazz pieces and really contemporary compositions. As a result, I think more kids are able to stick to the instrument for a longer period of time, and enjoy the pieces. Getting the right song to students is important in motivating them to practice.
