COVID-19 Update 28 June, 2021 – A Message from our Principal Director Sandra Lie

Dear Parents and Students,

Well it’s not the ideal way to start the school holiday period with a COVID lockdown. However we need to do what’s right to keep our community safe.

As per the latest COVID restrictions, our Marrickville and Stanmore studios will be closed for room hire, in-person lessons and music camp until 9 July, 2021 or when COVID restrictions are lifted. Our Adult Glee Club locations in NSW are also on hold until further notice.

We’re hoping to resume in-person lessons with whatever COVID rules are put in place from Monday 12 July (when Term 3 starts). However, our team of teachers and staff are prepared to handle any changes that are thrown our way.

MUSIC CAMPS – ALL CANCELLED
It’s really tough for us, but all music camps in Stanmore and Marrickville will unfortunately be cancelled. Students/families will have the first opportunity to roll their registration to our Spring and Summer music camps. For dates, please see our website and email coco@allagemusic.com.au to arrange the transfer

WHAT HAPPENS IF COVID LOCKDOWN IS EXTENDED?
Not to panic, we’ve been in this situation before. In fact our teachers are more experienced with online lessons now more than ever, and they’ll be engaging in further online lesson training during the school holiday period to extend their knowledge and further improve the online lesson experience we offer our students.

Private Lessons* – Will be conducted online at your scheduled time and day.

Group Guitar (Adult) – Will be conducted online

Band / Ensemble Classes – Will be done as a hybrid of online and emailed homework (self-paced learning and practice)

Glee Kids & Kinder Beat Music – No online classes. Physical classes will be PUT ON HOLD until we can resume in person. Term rates will be pro-rata accordingly.

Adult Glee Club – Based on the discretion of the Music Director, physical classes will be put on hold until we can resume in person OR done ONLINE. Any cancelled in-person classes not conducted online will be made up by extending session times or adding extra sessions during a holiday period.

* Note – Online lessons are the temporary solution for when we can’t conduct in-person lessons. Students and teachers are asked to have relevant devices, instruments and access to stable WIFI to conduct the online lesson. If unforeseen disruptions occur and online lessons can not be executed, your teacher will arrange another suitable time, pre-record a video or email your lesson plan.

WHAT HAPPENS IF RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED ON 9 JULY?
Then we simply resume normal face-to-face lessons and ask everyone to stay vigilant with hand sanitizing, social distancing and masking up.

WANT TO BE PART OF OUR LOCKDOWN ONLINE OPEN MIC SESSION?
Let’s use this lockdown time to get in some extra practice or singing time. Find a new piece to tinker about with, discover new music or record a little performance.

We’d love students to create a video and share it with us for our ‘Lockdown Online Open Mic Sessions’. Send to sandra@allagemusic.com.au. Tag @allagemusic on Instagram with hashtag #allagemusiclockdownonlineopenmic

THANK YOU TO OUR TEAM
I want to thank my amazing staff who have been so agile and working beyond their scheduled hours to minimise the disruption and impact of COVID restrictions to our valued students and families. Please be patient with our staff as they respond to the many enquiries and changes we are experiencing.

P.S – HUGE FAVOUR We’d like to have something positive to brag about, and to offset this COVID situation. Could you could VOTE FOR US in the upcoming 2021 Inner West Business Awards? Takes less than 30 seconds and we’d truly appreciate it. https://thebusinessawards.com.au/business/30440/All-Age-Music-School
